He was born in Khoruzlu village of Tartar region on the 26th of December, 1956. Vazir studied at village secondary school. He entered Baki Light Industry College in 1974 and a year later, was called for military service. He proceeded with his education after being discharged from the army in 1977. He begain his career at Tartar Bread Factory. Though he moved Arxangelsk province of Russia in 1984, Vazir immediately returned back to his country in 1992 after the bloody war started. He then, was enlisted in the self defense battalion of Tartar region on the 4th of May, 1992. Vazir, who first entered the pass of war as an ordinary soldier, was later promoted to the rank of a battalion commander. He took over the leadership of the Intelligence Battalion. Before every battle was about to begin, he would go scouting with the team who would assemble by himself and they would always come back with useful and precise information about the enemy units, ammunition, manpower and etc. His operations would always be success and that would inspire all the team and they would hope for a victorious end of the war.
Orujov V. destroyed a lot of enemy operations and plans and bravely fought the enemy back for the sake of Margushevan, Levonarkh, Madagiz, Akop, Komari, Sarsang su anbari, Drombon, Childiran, and Vagauz villages. He was severely wounded while protecting Childiran village on the 1st of September, 1992. After he had treatment for some months, Vazir again returned back to the Front. He would always be the first to swoop on the enemy and stand in the defense of the Motherland. Vazir was well known among his battle friends for his patriotism and bravery.
March the 22nd…1993…The last battle…He heroically died while defending Globus heights of Aghdara region.
He was married and survived by a son.
Orujov Vazir Surkhay was posthumously awarded the title of the “National Hero of Azerbaijan” by the decree # 495 of the president of Azerbaijani republic on the 27th of March, 1993.
He was buried in the Alley of Martyrs in Baki city.
