He was born in Gashgachay village of Gakh region on the 5th of June, 1973. The family moved to Garachukhur district of Baki city when he was one year old. He went to Surakahni district school # 104 and studied there till the 8th grade. Later, he continued his education at the Vocational School.Javanshir was very much interested in Martial arts. He was especially good at karate.
J. Rahimov was called for military service in April of 1992. He was destined to serve in newly established Azerbaijani Military Air Forces. After a short time, he became an onboard shooter of a military helicopter. The soldiers and commanders of the Military Units situated in Zabrat were often frying on board of military helicopters to the Front. J. Rahimov proved himself to be a very well – aimed sniper and destroyed a lot of enemy manpower. His last flight to the battle zone entered our History as a true example of heroism and courage. The commander of the helicopter head lieutenant Polovinko Ruslan and a machine gunner Rahimov Javanshir took off on the 6th of August, 1992. Hey had two successful flights. Though Javanshir was badly wounded, he said he was fine and was ready for the 3rd flight. The commander could not make Javanshir change his mind. The helicopter MI – 24 took off the third time. This time they were hit by the enemy missiles. The helicopter overbalanced but the crew was alive. But unfortunately, they could not last long. When the helicopter landed, it was already in fire and there were no survivors.
He was single.
Rahimov Javanshir Izzat was posthumously awarded the title of the “National Hero of Azerbaijan” by the decree # 203 of the president of Azerbaijani republic on the 16th of September, 1994.
He was buried in the Alley of Martyrs in Baki city. The school # 146 in Surakhani district of Baki city is named after the hero and there is also bust of him in Garachukhur district park.
